Hello dearies,
strange enough: November, this dreaded, seemingly never ending month is
flying by like crazy for me. Some days ago I talked to a friend who hates
November. She said that for her November is way worse than February or
March, which are the months that always make me miss spring and summer the
most. My train of thoughts at that time of year usually is something like:
Ok winter, you were here long enough! Move on! Give me back the green
leaves and flowers!
In February I often have the feeling that winter will never ever end. But
my friend says that November is worse: so grey and dark and rainy, a
gloomy month without any twinkle lights, Christmas markets or candle
flames to cheer you up and reconcile you with winter.
I thought about it a bit and realised that there are two main factors
which contribute to my impression that November this year really isn’t
long and dreary. Work is one of them. I have quite a lot of tasks on hand
and still so many new things to learn. In consequence my days seem rather
short and the weeks rush by. Only five weeks till Christmas!
The other factor: Scouts! November really is a very sociable time for me
and my Scout friends. Martinsfeuer, new kids in the groups, preparations
for our parish’s Christmas market, planning the new year (and taking first
steps towards our collective summer camp), the big weekendlong leaders‘
conference in Schloss Dreiluetzow, Christmas market and Hammer Bierfest on
the last Saturday of November. This year we also had an assembly to elect
two new members for our Stammesvorstand. We are quite busy, as you can see
:-)
So for me November isn’t long and dreary – to the contrary, I really,
really like it!
What about you? Do you love it – or hate it?
