I never thought I would be so content with a grey, drizzly, rainy day like I was today. In the middle of the night I woke up and heard the soft rushing noise of rain falling on the leaves of the poplar trees in „our“ backyard. And I smiled and slept on. Rain in the night is wonderful when you are lying in your cosy bed next to your beloved. But in the morning, it is normally quite a different thing. Not today. After what feels like weeks and weeks of brilliant blue skies and sunshine all day long, I really enjoyed the soft grey light and the earthy smell of wet gras. A sunny, summery spring is wonderful. But it feels as if we all needed some rain, after all. Let’s see how long I will sing its praise, though ;-) And if there are people who do not like the rain at all, here some more pics of my beautiful ranunculus flowers that remind me of sunlight:

My dearest eldest daughter,
how lovely your flowers look and how well I understand your rain-loving attitude!
I like the rain for the smells it produces: earth and trees and bushes smell most intensively after or during a nice and soft rainfall. An I dont have to carry the water to the f´lowers for watering anymore . And the crops will grow better. And one can sit inside the house and look out of the windows and enjoy a nice an lazy cup of tea and a book. And the sound of raindrops sound lovely in the nice little yellow car my mum gave to me for a present. And I like the sound of raindrops on the roof of a tent, especially at night, when I snuggle into my sleeping-bag. And it is nice to go for a walk under the protection of a large and bright umbrella…..
In love
Mama
Although I understand the necessity of rain for all green living things, I am not really a friend of it. But I agree that is was really overdue, and not only all the trees down our street look much more healthy then before, its the air which got quite crisp and clear to breathe (this one goes out to all allergy affected gals and guys ;) , being one myself)
take care
